Chain Link Fence
Tools:
Steps:
- Read all instructions carefully.
- Ensure that your chain link posts are secure in order to support the bamboo fence.
- If necessary, straighten your chain link fence to ensure a proper fit.
- Roll your bamboo along the chain link fence. The top of the bamboo should be level.
- Firmly attach one end with zip-ties or wire, pull taught and attach panels to chain link fence.
- Attach the remaining portion of the bamboo panels with wires or zip ties - approximately every 2 feet.
- Now simply slip the wire around the bamboo, making sure you are twisting it around the chain link fence tightly.
- If you desire, cut off the remaining wires and do this at the top and bottom until the bamboo is stable and secured.
Existing Wood Fence
Tools:
Steps:
- Read all instructions carefully.
- If your yard holds large amounts of moisture you may want to raise the bamboo 1 ½" off of the ground.
- First make sure your wood fence is on a strong foundation and is structurally sound (you can test the fence by wiggling it. If it doesn't move or sway back and forth you should be fine).
- The Bamboo will fasten on both sides of the fence. You can fasten the bamboo on the frame that supports the fence or wooden slots, its up to you.
- Now, roll out your bamboo and flatten it against your fence, making sure your holding the bamboo upright, this will insure an even fit to your wood fence.
- Get a trusted partner to hold the bamboo in place while your pre-drill in the center of one bamboo pole. Make sure you start at the top corner.
- Use the 2 ½" exterior screws to drill your bamboo to the wood panel or 2x4. Note: Try not to over-tighten the screw; this will save the bamboo from cracking.
- Now, continue to fasten the bamboo near the top and bottom while keeping the bamboo level. By alternating the screws near the top and bottom every foot will insure a structurally-sound bamboo fence. It's that simple!
Refurbishing your Brick, Block, or Concrete wall:
Tools:
Steps:
- Read all instructions carefully.
- Use a level and make 2 lines on the wall for the placement of the 2x4's. One line should be near the bottom, the other should be near the top.
- Pre-drill holes in the 2x4, approximately 3 feet apart.
- Hold the 2x4 along the lines you made in step 2, and make a mark on the wall where you pre-drilled the 2x4 holes.
- Pre-drill holes at the mark you made in step 4. Use a concrete drill bit and make the hole ¼" deep.
- Hold the 2x4 in place, insert the concrete screw into the 2x4 holes and drive the screw in with your drill.
- Once the 2x4's are firmly attached to the concrete wall, attach a bamboo fence to the 2x4's. See instructions for existing wood fence.
- Fasten four screws in each 2x4 and when you are finished, go back to step 5 on the wood fence instructions and follow all the way through. All done!
